I tacked up SP (Spanish Pirate) and took him out to the arena. Ashley followed me out, holding a bridle that belonged to From the Heart. We warmed them up around the arena on foot, and then mounted them both.
A few minutes later, SP and Heart were walking slowly around the arena with Ashley and I on their backs. The horses were beggining to bob their heads more all of a sudden, so we eased them into a trot. Pirate was very energetic and was hopping around the arena like crazy. Even Ashley had a hard time controlling him! Meanwhile, Heart was slowly jogging around, causing SP to make more circles. I used a crop after awhile, to get Heart going faster. She seemed to wake up quickly, and started trotting around just as fast as SP. Then, I went into a stnding trot, and Ashley mimicked me until the horses started to droop down a little. We slowed them down to a walk, and let them walk around the arena a few more times. Then, we made them urge into a canter, with energy through the cold arena. They did pretty well, and then they walked again. After they jumped some 2' Xs, we dismounted and let them into their stalls again.
