I slowly walked out to the field at GRF. Free came trotting over excitedly.
"No boy, I don't have a treat for you!!" I laughed. He bumped me on the chest with affection. I opened the gate just as Helen was walking over. She had heard the bad news.
"I hear you're trading him for another." Helen gently prodded.
"Yep, and I don't know why." I replied.
"Oh, well I'll go." Helen turned and walked away.
"OH FREE! WHY DID I WANT THAT HORSE?? BECAUSE OF LOOKS??" I wailed "I WAS THERE WHEN YOU WERE BORN!!! BUT NOW YOU'RE LEAVING ME! A TRADE, HUMPH!! I'LL NEVER LET YOU GO!!!!!!!!!" I cried into his silky mane and then turned and stomped to my car.
