training day for Fiery Miss, I thought to myself.I was walking down to the 4 acre pasture that held three 2 year olds named Silver Tshockwave, Pride's Breeze & Fiery Miss.In the pasture next to them, was a yearling colt named Corrado who was in the pasture with 3 older ponies, named Little Princess, Skylar & Pop Star, to teach him some manners.Tshockwave whinnied when he saw me, he raced over to the gate followed by Pride & Missy.Tshockwave belonged to my 16 y/o daughter, Jasmine, she was helping train him.The tall 2 y/o had been gelded this year.There was no point in keeping another stallion as we already had to many in my opinion.Jasmine wanted something that she could do 3-day eventing on, she didn't want a young stallion paying attention to all of the mares, but not her.I opned the gate to the pasture & let myself in, then I closed the gate behind me.I got a carrot out of my pocket & broke it into 3 equal pieces, after I fed them to 3 treat-seeking 2 y/o horses, I clipped a lead rope to Missy's halter & led her inside to her stall.After I had groomed her, I led her to the outdoor arena, followed by Jasmine & Arianna carrying some tack.The 2 teenage girls were helping me to break all of the 2 y/o horses to saddle & bridle.Arianna handed me the saddle pad, & I approached Missy with it.She eyed it cautiously, & norted when I rubbed it against her back.I let her sniff it before lightly setting the saddle pad on her back, She turned her head & sniffed at the saddle pad, after a little while, she relaxed and I carried the saddle over to her, after letting her sniff it & slowly putting the saddle onto her back.This time she spooked, luckily, the saddle didn't go flying because I was holding it on.Jasmine handed me the girth & I let her sniff that too.Then I attatched it to the saddle, let Missy see what I was doing.I walked to the other side of her and put the girth on the hole closest to the ground.Missy whipped her head around when she felt the girth & tried to sniff it, but she couldn't reach it.After she had gotten used to the girth, I tightened it a couple holes.I let her get used to that and repeated the process till the girth was tight enough so that the saddle didn't slip.After that, Arianna and Jasmine looped lead ropes around Missy's neck.I took the halter off of her & held up the birdle.After letting her look at it & sniff that, I held the bridle up over her nose & pushed the bit into her mouth with my fingers.Then I fastened the straps of the bridle.Fiery Miss chewed on the bit, un-used to it being in her mouth.I fed her a handful of oats.I told Ari & Jasmine "okay, you can take the lead ropes off of her." They both did that, and I held out a handful of oats to Fiery Miss. I stepped back about 5 paces, & she followed me forward a step.She jerked to a stop when she felt the girth, but the oats tempted her, and she finally walked over to me.I led her around for a little bit with the reins, & then led her back to her stall.I untacked her & then turned her out in the pasture with a pat & a peppermint.Then I walked back up to the stable.
