I held the lead shank behind my back as I slowly made my way into the paddock where my little Stallion, Gold Rush, was kept. He was harder to bring in than Chrystalline, he hated it. Even for a few minutes.
All I needed to do was brush him down and bath him, he had gotton his golden coat muddy from rolling in the paddock.
As I slowly walked toward him, Gold Rush turned and walked trotted in the other direction. I had to resort to plan B. In my other hand, I held out an apple. It worked! He cantered on over and took the apple. I clipped the lead shank and led him toward the barn. "Sorry I had to trick you boy, but you are a mess!" He nickered.
As I went to hitch him up near the bathing room, he gave a little rear and buck. "Whoa," I assured him. What was wrong with him?
