I heard Courage's loud whinny as I walked into the barn. "Hey boy!" I said to him. I got out my tack and lead him into the asile.I put him in the crossties and began to groom him. I combed out his mane and tail. When i was done with him he was so shiny. I saddled him and got my helmet on. I then put on his briddle and led him out to the ring.
Today, Courage was 4 y/o and he was going to jump some fences. I walked over to a jump with Courage behind me. I made it into a crossrail. I did the same with the other jump in the line. Then, E#mily and holly came out into the ring. "Do you want us to put the fences down?" asked emily.
"That whoud be great. I would like the diagonal to be 2 ft and the single to be 2 ft. Ok?' I said. They nodded and the 'jump crew' put down the jumps. I mounted the hansome qh
and walked him to the rail. I put a martingale on him incase decided that he wanted to pull something. We began trotting. I heard Holly say to Emily,"Wow, courage looks so pretty." I smiled as I worked on my equitation. I pushed my heels down and got my lower legs back and still. Courage got on the bit and was bending nicely. He was well rounded.
I did a sitting trot and collected him. He trotted slower, making it easier for me to sit. From the sitting trot we picked up a slow, collected canter. I gradually expended it.
We did a flying lead change across the center of the ring.
He was breathing hard so I let him catch his breathe. Holly and Emily were sitting on the fence watching me. Once we caught our breathe we trotted over the first crossrail. He took it easily. I halted him before the next crossrail to make sure I was still in control. We trotted back over the crossrail. Courage, as usual, jumped it nicely. Next, we trotted the entire line. Pop, over the first jump. I counted 5 strides til the second jump. I halted him in a straight line. I gave him a big pat. Next, we trotted over the single. He did that one well too. We then cantered the crossrail outside to the single. Everything was perfect. The rest of the ride went well and I cooled him out. It was cool outside so I didn't have to hose him off. I groomed the sweat marks off him and put him away. I worked with the 2 m/o old foal, Patriot. I groomed all of my horses. I fed the horses and did the rest of my barn chores before going up to the house.
