I walked down to Lady Slippers' and Sunshine Dancer's pasture.I hooked the silver and navy blue nylon lead rope I was carrying to Sunshine's halter and led her to one of the stables.I put Sunshine in her stall and walked to the tack room to get a saddle, saddlepad & girth and a lunging cavasson.I walked back to Sunshines stall.Christina was waiting there and had a lead with a chain. She said hello to me and walked into Sunshine's stall while I set the cavasson on a hook and clipped a chain to Sunshines halter and clipped the lead w/ a chain to Sunshine's halter.I carefully set the saddle & saddlepad onto Sunshine's back.Sunshine fidgeted at the unfamiliar weight of the saddle.I gave her a pat on the neck and cooed to her "its okay girl,it won't hurt you,it's all right".Christina rubbed her nose and petted her neck.I quickly attached the girth to the saddle and girthed Sunshine up.I put the girth on the 2nd hole on each side.Sunshine balked at the light pressure of the girth and shied.Sunshine soon noticed that the saddle & girth weren't going anywhere and she settled down.I tightened the girth 2 holes on each side and Christina unclipped the chain from her halter.I asked Christina "can I pkease have the lead line"?, and Christina handed it to me.I pulled on the lead rope and Sunshine reluctantly stepped forward.Sunshine stopped in her tracks when she felt that the girth was tighter and that it felt weird moving with a saddle on.I said to Christina "okay, you can bribe her now".Christina nodded and got a handful of grain out of her pocket. She stepped about 5 feet in front of Sunshine and hald out her hand.Sunshine sniffed the air and the grain & stepped forward.she once again felt the girth and saddle & stopped.Christina cooed to her and said "come on Sunshine, it's okay girl".Sunshine stepped forward....and took another step...and another. She walked up to Christina and lipped up the grain in the plam of her hand.....
10 minutes later....
Sunshine was back in her pasture with Lady Slippers and was munching on grass.Christina and I didn't do to much with her because we didn't want her to have a bad experience.Christina got Lady Slippers out of the pasture and was grooming her & putting on her lunging cavasson while I waited in front of one of the roundpens.I little while later,Christina walked out with Lady Slippers and handed her lead rope to me.I attached a lunge line to her halter and led her inside the large roundpen.I gave her some line and waved a little bit of it in the direction of her back end.Lady stepped forward and walked on.After a bit of walking,I asked her to trot, and then canter.Lady bucked a little bit when she cantered, but they were just playful bucks. After a while,I gave her lunge line to Christina and let her lunge Lady at a walk and trot.(Lady was new to cantering on a lunge line)When Christina was done lunging Lady, she led her back into the stable, took off her lunging cavasson and turned her out with Sunshine.I was getting April ready when Christina walked over to me and said goodbye.I said goodbye back and waved to her.I finished tacking April up(with western tack)and led her to the indoor arena.I lunged her and then walked April over to the munting block.I got on her and settled into the large western saddle. Then,I asked her to walk and relaxed into the saddle.I warmed her up at a walk, jog, trot & lope and then I rode the filly to the beggining of one of the trails on Timeless Farm.I rode her on the trail at a walk and jog for about 15 mintues before reaching a stream.I squeezed April and she stepped into the river.April walked across the river and stepped onto the bank. She jogged up the steep bank of the river and I trotted her back onto the trail. We reached a steep hill and I let April lope up it.We reached the to of the hill and I slowed her down to a walk.We jogged on for another 15 minutes before reaching a large meadow.I got April to gallop and we shot off across the field. We reached the trail again, and I let the filly lope.In another 15 mintues,we reached the stable yard of Timeless Farm and I dismounted.I led April back to the stable, untacked her & turned her out in one of the pastures with a peppermint. Then I got Snowflake out of the geldings pasture and led him into one of the stables.I hooked him in the crossties and quickly groomed his grey(white) coat. Then I tacked him up and led him to the outdoor jumping arena.I walked Snowy over to the mounting block and got on him. Then, I warmed up the Arabian gelding @ a walk, trot and canter.Today I was doing the hunters with Snowy.I cantered him in a balanced courtesy cirle and rode him to the first 4 foot jump.I went into 2-point just before the jump and Snowy flew over the 4 foot single jump.We cantered 5 strides to the next jump,a 4 foot oxer and Snowy jumped over it with beautiful form with his knees tucked up,his heaqd up and alert and a nice expressions in his eyes.We cantered on a jumped over the next line.We cantered a long the rail and did the 4 foot line on the side of the arena. We did one more diagonal line and I ended the course in a courtesy circle.I thought to myself,He's going to be a awesome hunter!I did the course 1 more time in the other direction and then I walked him out, untacked him and turned him out in the geldings pasture and gave Snowy a carrot and a pat on the nose. Then I walked back up to the barn to get Elite Challenge ready for are first ride together.
