DOS is "what tigger's do best" to quote the old winnie the poo. For DOS(MS or PC) to drive a cd-rom drive, it needs 2 things, 1) your "autoexec.bat" file must have a line in it that reads "LH A:\MSCDEX.EXE/D:CDROM"( DOS V 6.5-6.62 or newer) 2) your "config.sys" file must have a line in it that reads "devicehigh=a:\oakcdrom.sys/d:CDROM"( DOS V 6.5-6.62 or newer). Aslong as your boot disk meets these conditions and has "oakcdrom.sys" file on the disk itself you'll be O.K., [F.Y.I.]oakcdrom.sys= DOS own CD-ROM driver, the comand line in the "autoexec.bat" tells the computer to load the drivers, the comand line in "config.sys" tells the computer to see D:\ drive as the CD-ROM. I hope I was some help, sorry I was so "long winded"
