Right. You must partition your hard drive or use another hard drive, but you still have to use a bootloader to tell your computer which OS you want to use when you start up. The bootloader may be configured to default to a particular OS if nothing is chosen within a certain time frame. As for getting Mandrake, it's not very expensive even if you were to buy it in a store. I paid $35 U.S. for the whole package, plus you get all the extras and manuals. I'm on a fast connection and have a burner, but it's still worth it to buy the package.
