 Ok well the first step is to find a way to run your comp without startup programs starting up, like safemode in win98. Im not sure how to do that because i never used winxp. But if you can get it to startup with out the startup programs and you dont get that error anymore then you no that the proublem is with one of the startup programs.

Try to do that and tell me what happens.
