Jakob lay in wait by a tree for what seemed like forever, while the others were ready to pounce on whatever appeared on the path. Sensing that nothing was going to come out and kill them, he walked out onto the path and straightened out his glasses.

"Let's get going. Whatever it was, I get the feeling it's in town right now, so watch your backs." He continued down the path, sensing that he didn't do a very good job at breaking the tension with his speech. The rain finally stopped, but the clouds were still very dark and overcast.

After finding the only tavern in town, the first thing Jakob did was find a table and pull out his book, thumbing through it to make sure that the ink didnīt run too baddly.
