Originally Gunn/Tez wanted to write this episode because it was the introduction to the spirits. However it is the next episode that has more on the spirits - so if not Tez then anybody really. I think Noggins said he'd do it...

Angel #08: ('second chance' in Latin) (?)

ACT I

The camera zooms through the city till we come to the roof of the Hyperion. We find Angel and Cordy lying down and watching the stars. Cordy kisses Angel and notices a weird mark on the back of Angel's neck. It is a symbol WE have seen on the scripts before. Angel passes it by. They have a romantic conversation and Angel basically apologises for what he was saying when he was drugged previously. Cordy and him kiss. Cordy tells Angel to never go psychotic or evil again. Angel promises he won't. They kiss some more. They look up.
Armed security guards followed by Linwood and a psychic storm down a corridor in W&H. The armed guards pause outside the door. Linwood says something about time to take out the traitor/trash. The armed guards burst into the room.

CREDITS

Inside his office Wes looks up to see his door being slammed open. We expect it to be the armed guards - but is just Lilah. Wes stands up. Behind Lilah we can see down the corridor. Linwood turns to glare at Wes before entering another room from which we hear screaming before a gun-shot is fired. Lilah closes the door to Wes' office and Wes asks what is happening. Lilah explains that so-and-so were going behind W&H's back. Lilah reminds Wes that W&H take that very seriously. Wes looks to Lilah and asks if she wants anything else. Lilah puts a file down. It shows a picture of 'Anne'.

It is morning. Cordy is looking at the mark on the back of Angel's neck under a magnifying glass. Cordy realises it is permanent/tattoo. Cordy is worried about what it might be; Angel tells Cordy to stay calm; he kisses her to calm her down. Angel promises Cordy it will be alright. The camera moves into the lobby where Gunn and Fred walk down the steps of the hotel hand in hand. Connor is listening to loud music on a hi-fi while working out. Gunn goes to make some coffee. Connor switches off the music. Fred and Connor have a chat. Connor tells Fred that the ring is very pretty. Fred thanks him. Gunn passes Fred a coffee. Fred picks up a newspaper; it has a picture of Wes' apartment on fire on the front. Fred's coffee falls to the floor and the cup smashes. Gunn busies himself with tidying it up while asking if Fred is okay. Fred says she needs to go out. Connor and Fred make eye contact. Fred rushes out the back door. Angel and Cordy come out of the office (having heard the cup smashing). Angel asks if things are okay. Connor uses lightning quick reactions to hide the newspaper. Gunn says Fred is a little off. Gunn finishes tidying up the mess. Someone coughs (from the main door). Everyone looks up to see Anne. Gunn is happy to see her. Anne tells Angel she doesn't really trust him, but he may be the only one to help.


ACT II
Wes looks down at the photo of Anne. He gives her full name and says she runs a night centre for street kids. If he remembers rightly, W&H held a charity ball to help her cause but Angel managed to intervene. Lilah congratulates Wes on his memory. Wes asks what business W&H has with Anne now. Lilah brings forth a second picture of another female (the mother from 'Judgement').

We find the group looking at the same photo that Anne has provided. Angel gets flashes of seeing the woman before. He says that he has met this woman; he went through ordeals to gain security for her and her son from a tribunal. Anne tells Angel that the Tribunal collapsed. The woman came to the shelter last week; she was running from someone…

Wes asks who. Lilah says there are a lot of people - but W&H need to be the best faction. Wes looks at the photo (which has the 1/2 yr old kid in a pushchair too). Wes realises/says the kid holds power. Lilah says it seems to be in fashion. Wes asks what is so special about it. Lilah says the details aren't that clear; a future slayer or Angel mark 2; either way W&H need the kid. Lilah tells Wes that he needs to do this; his future may rely on it.

Gunn asks where the mother and kid are now. Anne says that the shelter was done over last night; the managed to hide the mother and kid; they're presently in an abandoned warehouse. But it isn't safe there. Anne asks for the AI team's help to protect them. The gang agree. Angel tells Connor, Cordy and Gunn to make the hotel secure from attack e.t.c. Cordy says that she is coming. Gunn talks to Anne. Gunn promises they will make sure the woman stays safe; Anne thanks him. Anne asks if it is true. Gunn asks what. If Gunn is engaged. Gunn asks how she knew. Anne says news travels fast on the streets.

We watch Wes brief two street kids in his room over a video monitor. We see Lilah and Linwood watching it. Linwood asks about the progress in the translation of the script. Lilah says Wes was efficient - having studied the translator book too - but it will not be long till another translator has completed the job. Linwood asks if Constantine has been informed and whether the room has been prepared. Lilah says everything is as planned. Linwood grins. Linwood asks Lilah whether she thinks Wes will betray W&H again. Lilah makes a nasty comment about Wes betraying whoever he works for. Linwood "Then he shall pay for his crimes".

Flash of LA.

Anne comes through the door of the abandoned warehouse followed by Cordy and Angel. The mother sees Angel and shrinks away. Cordy basically tells Angel to stay back. Anne introduces the mother to Cordy. Cordy calms the mother down and tells her that Angel can help. The mother tells Cordy about the tribunal being killed and soon after W&H and other people started tracking her down. They want her child. Angel says they need to get her away cause the warehouse is too open. The guys take her back to the hotel.

Connor and Gunn are making the lower level of the hotel enemy-proof. Gunn tells Connor he is sorry for snapping at him the previous day for being with Fred. Connor says he was just looking out for her. Gunn says Connor is a good kid. There is an awkward silence. Connor then asks about Wes. Gunn says it isn't a hot topic around the gang. Connor says he gets that but he needs to know why. Gunn pauses and then explains that Wes kidnapped baby Connor. Connor doesn't get why everyone is so pissed still - he is back after all. Gunn says that Wes took the most special thing Angel could have; he betrayed him and then he went and worked for the enemy, drugged Angel and tried to split the group. Connor simply says "oh". Gunn smiles. He looks at his watch. He is worried about Fred. He asks Connor if Fred told him where she went. Connor says no. Connor backs away from Gunn and looks at the newspaper and then back to Gunn. There is noise from the sewer door. Gunn opens the locked door and lets Angel and the mum/child in. Angel tells Gunn that Cordy went back to the shelter with Anne. Angel asks where Connor is. Gunn says he was just there- Connor has gone.

ACT III
Wes comes down some concrete steps and enters the W&H underground car-park. He walks towards his car and does the 'beep-beep' (open-the-car) thing. He goes up to the driver's seat. Fred is on the ground leaning against the car. Wes freezes. Without looking up, Fred asks why Wes didn't contact her; tell her he safe and not hurt in the fire. Wes says he didn't realise she cared. Fred stands up and gets right in Wes' face. She tells Wes that even after everything he has put her and the others through, she still cares about him; she has still got a soul - she wonders whether Wes has. Wes tells Fred to leave him alone; he doesn't care about her. Fred yells at Wes asking why he saved her then. Wes is about to get in his car. He stays quiet. Fred slower and calmer reminds Wes that he risked everything by saving her. She knows he cares. About all of them. Wes tells Fred that too much has changed. Wes closes his door and the car screeches off. Fred looks up with teary eyes. A few cars away Connor is watching. Fred sees him. Connor asks Fred why she doesn't tell the others that Wes helped her. Fred says things don't work like that. Fred and Connor move to the wall looking over the front of W&H. Looking carefully we can see Constantine enter the building. Wes was right he has done too much.

Constantine enters Lilah's room. She smirks wickedly. Constantine grins. Lilah hands Constantine the translated version of the scrolls. Constantine reads it out for all to hear (something like:) Banished to the realms of nothingness the (BS) and (GS) rest, prophesied that if the (BS) be allowed to return to the mortal realm and posses, a great apocalypse will be incurred. Be forewarned, while the power of the (BS) and (GS) hold great power; they also hold great darkness. Constantine asks when the "summoning" will occur. Lilah says soon.

A flash of the sun-setting.

Anne and Cordy walk along the sidewalk. Anne asks Cordy about her relationship with Angel noticing they are very close. Cordy says she cares about Angel so much; but there are big issues. Anne says that all relationships have issues; you've just got to find a way to overcome them. Cordy ponders this as Anne tries to open the door. We here a voice. Cordy and Anne turn to see a knife being pointed at them by one of street teens that was being briefed by Wes earlier. They demand to know where the mother and child are. Anne says she doesn't know. The youth points the knife at Anne. He then stabs Anne in the stomach. Anne and Cordy scream. The youth holds the knife to Cordy's throat. Cordy tells them where the mum/child is. The youths run off. Cordy drops to the floor next to Anne and holds her hand over Anne's wound. Anne is gasping. Suddenly Cordy's hand glows white and the wound heals itself. Anne looks down in disbelief. Cordy cradles a sobbing Anne. Anne remembers the mum/child and Cordy uses her phone.

Angel picks up the phone. Cordy tells Angel that Anne was shot and that the mum's location is known. Angel asks if Anne is okay. Cordy tells him she is; but they will have to move quickly. Angel says they need to get the mum out of here; he says he'll meet Cordy/Anne at the station. Angel hangs up just as Fred/Connor rush in. Fred/Gunn kiss. Angel tells Gunn to get his truck. He tells the mum she has to leave LA; she isn't safe here.

Gunn's truck pulls out of the hotel and speeds away. Two vehicles follow. We watch a huge car chase in which Gunn loses all of the vehicles. Gunn pulls up outside the station and Angel takes the child/mother by foot to the station. A gun click. It is Wes. The woman starts to sob. Angel stands in front of the woman. Fred, Gunn, Connor, Anne and Cordy run up. Fred tells Wes that he still has a choice. Wes glances over to Fred. She reminds him of the parallel story: a baby with a destiny; faced with an impossible decision. Fred tells Wes that he made a wrong decision. It is time to start fixing those mistakes. Everything goes absolutely silent as Wes realises he has to make a decision. Wes cocks the gun and shoots into the air. Everyone goes silent as Wes rips off a sound-recorder-ear-piece on his clothing which he destroys. Wes tells the woman that for the moment W&H think she is dead and that will give her enough time to escape. The woman thanks Wes. Angel looks to Wes with a dirty look. Fred (upset) asks if W&H will come after him. Wes pauses. He tells Fred that is why he is leaving (for London). Angel watches Wes leave.

ACT IV
Fred is sitting in the garden. She is upset. We move to inside where Cordy and Gunn watch her. Cordy and Gunn talk about how Fred isn't going to be happy. Gunn seems a little jealous. Angel is down in the basement beating a punching bag up. Connor comes down the steps. Connor says Fred is upset. Angel: "Over Wes?" Connor has a conversation with Angel. Angel ends up saying that Wes betrayed him. Connor reminds Angel that forgiveness is something that a lot of people see as a human fault; he sees it as a strength. Connor walks off.

Constantine stands in the centre of a mystical circle in a large white room in W&H somewhere. He is chanting. His eyes are black. Swirling dark magical energy surrounds him. Psychics stand around the circle joining the chant. Suddenly two vortexes appear around Constantine and the black (BS) and white (GS) are produced and fly across the room in opposite directions. Lilah grins before lifting up her gun and shooting Constantine in the head. The (GS) tries to move but a force-field has been erected around it and it is trapped. A small portal opens in front of the (BS) and it leaves the room. The (GS) is left trapped in the force-field almost buzzing around like a fly trapped inside a room with closed windows. Linwood turns to Lilah (Constantine's dead body is front of them). He asks what happens now. Lilah says they wait.

We find ourselves in Angel's room where Angel is hunched up in bed. The small tattoo on the back of his neck starts to glow with a black shimmer. A small, black portal opens in front of him and the (BS) appears. It flies straight into Angel's mouth. Angel bolts upright. He opens his eyes and they are a swirling black. Angel is gasping.
