Jossph Smith III had three wives (unlike his Utah cousins, one at a time) He was married on Oct 22, 1856 to Emmeline Griswold(d March 25, 1869), on Nov 12, 1869 to Bertha Madison(d Oct 19, 1896)and on Jan 12, 1898 to Ada Clark.

Three of his many sons eventually led the Reorganization - Fredick Madison, followed by Israel A & William Wallace. Later William Wallace's son - Wallace B presided over the reorganized church. He is still alive and serves as President Emeritus of the Community of Christ.

Joseph Smith junior had two other sons that served in leadership positions in the reorganization and their sons served as well. Today the Community of Christ is led by Grant McMurray. I do not know of anyone who holds the Smith family name although I am told there are some - at least none hold prominent leadership positions. There are lots of descendants who do not hold the Smith name within the church that I am acquainted with.
