Greetings, glad that the page meets your approval - since it is your work, anytime you want it updated let me know and I will be happy to oblige. If you determine that your most recent editing of your article is what you want up I will put it up, takes less than a minute.

I think that your supposition about the Cunninghams and the Deams sticking together is quite likely. I heard a paper read at a Mormon History Association meeting about twenty years ago that said that the church did not split apart so much along doctrinal lines (although that was a component) as much as along family lines. If this was so the Cunninghams were probably associated with the Strang faction as well (just as they were part of the "Deam party" in the 1850s. If I ever see any evidence of this I will forward it to you.

During the periods of the temple endowments for the Cunninghams and Deams you write about, Brigham Young and the remaining twelve were pretty much in charge. Sidney Rigdon did not return to Nauvoo and William Smith was already gone. There was a flurry of activity to try and finish the temple and do a lot of temple work before the migration west. Brigham Young left Nauvoo on February 15, 1846 and controlled what went on in the temple until then.

Your article looks great to me - very happy to have it as part of my website.

Cheers, Scott

Dear Scott,

The Web link with my article looks great. I have attached the article again only because I am debating myself about the relationships of John Cunningham and Henry Deam and the leaders of the LDS between the death of Joseph Smith, Jr in 1844 and the formation of the RLDS in 1851. Look at the changes I made in my article and give me some advice.

I never saw any actual direct linkage between Cunningham, Wright and Strang, but I have with Henry Deam. I make an assumption, because they were brother-n-law's, that they shared commitments. John Cunningham and his wife Susan were endowed in the Nauvoo Temple on February 2, 1846 and John was named a seventy. Henry Deam and his wife were endowed in the Nauvoo Temple on December 22, 1845 and Henry was named a high priest. Who was the head of the church or who claimed to be the head of the church at this time? I know Henry Deam was the Treasurer of Strang in 1848 and corresponded with Benjamin Wirght, but I'm not sure about John Cunningham. I don't know much about John Cunningham's faith/allegence after his 1846 endowment and his joining the RLDS in 1851.

Let me know if the changes I made are generic enought or if something needs to be altered. Thanks. Greg.
