a timemachine is not impossible. it is using quantum mechanics, in theory possible to travel back into time (time travel into the future is easy, we're allready doing it, and we can do it even faster). in the past, it was believed that because of the paradoxes time travel would create, that it's impossible. but in modern quantum mechanics, multiple universes MUST exist. so that if you travelled back in time, you would actually travel back into time of another universe, and then you really avoid all the nasty paradoxes. the mechanism of time travel would most likely involve extreme gravity wells, such as a black holes.

yes. an infinite amount of universes in fact. allthough the exact mechanics are hardly known, the general idea now is sort of what you see in the sci-fi series "sliders", that there are "parallel" universes (aswell as "other" universes, which exist independantly from us in what could only be called "quantum space", but i don't know enough about this to delve into this any further), basically meaning that whenever something happens that can have multiple outcomes, not one of them happens, but all of them. so basically, constantly, entirely new universes are created, that technically speaking both didn't exist, and did exist before that. (for the inhabitants of that universe, it would've existed all along), it's all quite complex if you think about it, and much more baffling than anything else we've discovered sofar.

if you'd timetravel, yes. but normal travel, no. some more unsubstantiated theories even say that when we think up a fantasy world, that world will be created, and some go even further saying that entities can travel between these different universes. but these theories are not founded on anything other than speculation.
