O.K.. then what about numerous instrumentals made by many different bands.. Fiath No More... The Beastie Boys, Metallica... ummmm.. gee, lots of Hip-Hop groups have intrumentals.. that they release without any lyrics what so ever... folk groups... Jimi Hendrix... not just Orchestra's and Symphonic bands.. but Pop music as well... DO you think that back in the 12th and 13th Century, while the kings and queens ate, they had to have lyrics with thier music? No.. they didn't... sure, music accompanied Bards when they would tell thier epics, but thats about the only people that sang along, or rather made up lyrics to go with music... anyone can be a poet... but there were many great minds who made music... Motzart... Bach, Beethoven, John Phillip Sousa...
and many times, people write music before they write songs.. look at Led Zepplin for example, they wrote the words for Stair Way to Heaven after Jimmy Paige had startes making the music for the song... he was playing it on his guitar, and Robert Plant wrote the lyrics... so music is a little more important... if there is no music for the words, all you have is a poem....

PEACE!
