Yes, there has been an animated movie, and it is very, very, very old...yes, in my mind it does hold deeper meaning as to what Tolkien saw was happening in the world...why am I so entranced, probably for no more reason then the people in the poll taken at the largest bristish book chain who rated the Lord of the rings trilogy as the greatest literary work of all time, number two was the bible...the fellowship of the ring, the first movie sold over 50 million coppies in 25 languages...

...Tolkien had an imagination deep as the ocean...he was an english proffessor from oxford who built middle earth as a tool to display the mastery of language, and he actually went as far as to develope complete langauges and dialects for the various races...Tolkien was a genius...he devloped a history from his world(which can be read from his published notes)that he could have wrote anywhere from 25-100 more books from depending on whim. I just can't say enough about what he did in those books...did you down load the internet trailer?
