Why I was asking the question was because I have developed the thin NAND MTD flash driver that allows the normal MTD filesystems like JFFS2 and YAFFS to be used on the 686CORE. Since it is not known whether the READY/BUSY pin is connected to the processor, the NAND subsystem needs to perform software polling of the BUSY. It may be faster/easier to perform polling of the READY/BUSY pin rather than sending down a software query.

BTW, is there any interest in the MTD NAND flash driver? I also have updated sources for the normal block NAND/NOR drivers so they build as either modules or statically in the kernel if anyone wants them...
