Subject: Guys & Gals, I need help!

Stupid question for a stupid situation I got myself into,
but I am wondering if you had losses on every stock owned,
do you all think it is better to sell for tax-loss purposes and direct that money into other, similarly down stocks that have the potential to go up, or would you all wait for a recovery to take place in the stocks you currently own, though they might not ever go back up to the level you paid for them?

Help and strategies appreciated :)
(Think I know the answer to this one too:
something about "lumps" and "coal" come to mind)
