Applied Digital Solutions Announces ''Vertical Trade
Community Initiative''

PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000--Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSX - news) an
emerging leader in the implementation of business to business e-commerce/e-business solutions for the Internet and Computer
Telephony Internet Integration, today announced that it will develop and operate a number of Internet business-to-business
communities known as ``vertical trade communities.''

Vertical trade communities provide users with comprehensive sources of information, interaction, and e-commerce (the buying
and selling of goods and services over the Internet). The initial focus of the vertical trade communities will be related to the core
services and products provided by ADS. Current plans are to develop vertical trade communities for the following:

Network. This community will focus on computer systems networking including Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area
Networks (WANs) and is expected to provide support from vendors such as Compaq, Sun and Dell.

Telecommunications. This community will focus on providing users with a business telecommunications forum. Support is
expected from vendors such as Toshiba, Fujitsu, Inter-Tel, AVT, Panasonic, and Lucent.

Internet. This community is expected to allow Oracle, Vignette and Macromedia users to exchange information and promote the
selling of goods and consulting services related to the wide arrange of e-business technologies.

Richard J. Sullivan, Chairman and CEO of Applied Digital Solutions said, ``The Vertical Trade Community Initiative is another
