Company Press Release

JNI Clarifies Misleading Comments Made On CNBC
Television Program

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 1999--JNI Corporation (Nasdaq:JNIC - news) today provided clarification
regarding comments the company believes were misleading, made by a fund manager during an interview on the CNBC
program ``Power Lunch'' on Friday, Dec. 17.

During the interview, the fund manager implied that technology provided by JNI to one of its customers, Sun Microsystems
Inc., is limited to SBus, and that Sun intends to move to a technology known as PCI bus, which the fund manager further
implied JNI does not currently possess. JNI said, in fact, that it manufacturers both SBus and PCI bus, which it markets to Sun
as well as certain other customers.

JNI also said that its products based on SBus and PCI bus technologies operate under Solaris and Windows NT, two widely
used operating systems, in all Fibre Channel topologies, and is the only company today that can make this claim.

About JNI

JNI Corporation is a leading developer and manufacturer of Fibre Channel hardware and software products that form critical
elements of SANs. JNI developed some of the first commercially available Fibre Channel-based products and focus its efforts
exclusively on the Fibre Channel market. Because of JNI's early and continuous focus on developing technology and products
based on the Fibre Channel standard, the company has successfully developed a broad line of PCI and SBus-based host bus
adapters, ASICs and software that provide increased bandwidth for data communications, increased distance for high speed
data transmission, guaranteed data delivery and scalability to large numbers of network connections.

JNI became publicly listed on the Nasdaq under the trading symbol JNIC in October 1999. For more information on JNI and
