I was a chemist at a well-known food processor. And guess what part of MY job was! Get a sample of cornmeal/flour, toss some HCL on it, put it under the microscope, and look for "insectoid contamination". We just used to call it "extra protein enrichment". Really, it was 5 years before I could eat cornbread again. YUM YUM! Now, ain't ya'll glad I saved that 'til after the holidays? MMMM, pass that turkey and dressing!!
