As for Wind River Systems (NASDAQ:WIND - news), we still like it long-term, but were late to the party. We had been looking at Wind River for some time and just weren’t able to get around to it fast enough.

As a result, we missed most of the company’s recent move from under $20 to over $40. We should note that Wind is planning to merge with its number one rival Integrated Systems (NASDAQ:INTS - news) . The combined company will consist of numbers one and two in the market for embedded operating systems, with the potential to be a dominant force.

Integrated recently announced blow-out results for the most recent quarter, which in our opinion hasn’t been fully factored into the stock price. Further upside may await final approval of the deal from the SEC, which is expected by the end of January.
