You trot north to a ranch you saw from the distance. You watch the ranch for a couple of days to miminize the risk. The horses are left out in the coral until 10 at night. They are then brought in until 5 in the morning. When do you want to try to sneak them? Day or Night? If night do you want to wait until they are in the stable or would you rather try when they're out? Do you want to skip trying to get the horses and try for food or maybe a dog-pup?
