Hi! I am the owner of LIttle Wonders and the person behind everything you see in this site. From the actual babies, to the site to everything...
Though my dealings and my experience with all of you has been more than wondeful, here are a few of my thoughts. Please if you read this, do not feel offended or upset.
I was a doll collector before I became an artist and still, whenever I order supplies or a special doll for my collection, I get anxious and sometimes even angry at people for not getting me what I most wanted very fast...like yesterday :)
After you submit an application, your name will be entered into our (long) waiting list. When your name comes at the top we will start on your baby after contacting you to confirm your choices. We will then start on your baby. Note that it will take several weeks to finish a baby and even though we understand you are anxious to receive your little one, please understand that all the babies are handmade by one person, and she too has a right to a personal life.
I am still a wife, I have a day job, I have a house to clean, clothes to wash and pets to feed and I also need to go for a coffee with friends every once in a while or just sit in bed to watch a movie or read a book. That does not mean that I have forgotten about you and your baby or that someone else has taken your place in the line. Though we do appreciate a gentle mail from your part to check on us or your baby, lately we have had a lot of people mailing us daily to check on their baby. This does not help us to make your baby faster. Chances are that you are only putting more strain on an already stressed individual and there is a great chance that if you rush things, your baby will not be perfect at all. I can assure you I work on babies DAILY for up to 6 hours (which keeps me up until 3 in the morning) but if you consider that the cutting and sewing of the body can take up to 2 hours and that painting can take up to 1 week, you can understand why it takes so long for a baby to be finished..
Plus some days it just impossible for me to draw a straight line! So instead of trying for hours and finally ruining the baby, I just prefer to work on other things on those days, like clothe making for instance.
When your baby is ready, we will take it directly to the airport's post office by car. The parcel is not stamped until it actually passes our customs, especially now that the security measures are extra strict. So even though we will contact you that your baby was mailed out, sometimes a baby stays in customs (either in your country or here in Greece) for up to 1 week before its loaded on the plane.
Because the boxes are big, there must find room on the plane's cargo hold too, so sometimes when the flights are packed, it takes slightly longer for your babies to reach you.
However, we do have a person inside the airport and thus we are able to contact you the same day that the baby flies to meet you. Usually it takes up to 5 weeks for a baby to reach you, though we do have record times from time to time varying from only a few days to the 7 working days.
For all those reasons, we beg for your understanding and I am being totally honest with you here, not as an artist or a company, but as a human who is trying to balance a busy married life, a day job and her one and true passion...doll making!
I hope that once you open the box and cuddle your new baby, you will thank me for taking my time on bringing life to your dream baby and that you will remember me from time to time, with love in your heart and a smile on your face, and thats the most important thing to me.
