Subject: a question of texture

I have waist length, thick, wavy, naturally blonde hair. I've been thinking of a change, but don't quite trust the stylists I've talked to about this. I do not blow dry my hair and do not intend to start. If I have my haircut shorter (mid back or so) with layers, I'm worried it will look awful if I don't put a bunch of products in it, blowdry it, etc. Will it frizz up if I let it dry naturally? Also, I do not want to have to spend time styling it, and want to still be able to throw it into a ponytail, which I do quite often. Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks.
