HI!

I have had very long hair for 12 years and am seriously thinking about changing it. I have always admired the short, sharp, bobs...but I know that it won't work work me--my hair is naturally wavy and somewhat frizzy. It reaches my mid back. Its also tends to be on the dry side-- it has always had this texture-- even before I started coloring it. I do color it...a medium red...but my hair is a dark blonde naturally. It takes color very well and the roots blend in...so I don't have to color it very often. As long as a get a few inches chopped off every now and then, it stays full and pretty.
So why would I want to chop it all off? Well... the romantic hair is not really me. People say I have Pre-Raphelite hair, but I am a very modern girl. I like classy, modern styles. I have 16 hours of gorgeous tattoo work on my back. I am also a professional-- I enter the PhD program next semester and I teach at a university. So...the "hippy" hair is beautiful, but not me.
My description...I am short...5 foot 3 inches. I am 150 pounds...but everyone thinks I weigh 130. I have a large frame-- large shoulders and large hips. I am well balanced-- the weight is spread out evenly. I have shapely, muscular legs and a large bust. I am no super model...but people say I am attractive. I have an oval face and a nice profile. My face is balanced. Plus-- I have a nice jawline and cheekbones-- thanks Mom. So...I don't have any imperfections to hide. My boyfriend thinks the long hair takes away from my pretty features. I think my jaw and my large, green eyes are my best features. My coloring is fair. People tell me that I have a pretty skin tone.
I feel a bit silly-- the only thing I am afraid of is cutting my hair. I do have a good reason. I chopped it off when I was ten-- it was a mess. It was super short and frizzed horribly. I invested in hats and started growing it back out immediately.
I adore bobs-- they seem so modern and classy to me. I have a wig that reaches just above my shoulders-- it is a long bob. Everytime I wear it-- everyone says I look fabulous. The wig is straight though. I would not mind wearing my hair wavy most days and blowing it out on special occasions (I don't want to do it all the time)-- if it will behave. Do you think that if I kept to a long bob-- that is not layered-- that I could get my wavy hair not to frizz?
I don't want to add more time getting ready. With long hair, I wash it in the morning, get out the tangles (which does take some time), add some anti frizz styling products and am out the door.
Do you think I should chop? What do you think about a long bob? I figured that I can always go shorter-- or it can be long again in a year.
Thank You For Your Time
Erika
