Mary, Your such a doll to have posted!
It's a common lament from fine haired gals...

It's a fact that the options with short hair are a little more limiting than most any other texture. Fine hair can look great if you adopt a good plan. But, a word from the learned... Don't try and fight what nature gave you. Most of the dissapointment that I've seen from women battling their hair is from the tendency to follow trends and fight their natural texture. Short of adding full blown fullness with extensions we can can use styling tools to create lift or volume and bend, but of these regimens aren't anything more than a temporary fix on long limp or fine hair.

Working within your features and face a good hair designer should be able to find a workable length and style. I have seldom (if ever) seen a long hairstyle that works with fine, thin hair. To experience all that you can from your existing texture, your hair should be be short.

I've seen it a million times, finer hair can look limp and lank at shoulder length, but can find new volume and look downright vibrant and radiant when cut above the shoulders, to the chin or shorter! Strategic layering will give you the control you need and cater to your own personal preferences, such as covering lagre ears, accenting a prominent nose or taming a high forehead. Razor cutting can add a sexy edge and a modern look to short fine hair better than any other texture. Use of color can accent a good cut and plump up week hair strands as well. Oilyness may be caused by overactive sebacious glands, but can probably be kept in check with a good daily shampooing. Avoid conditioning anything other than your ends if your hair shows a greasey scalp later in the day. An oily "T" zone can transfer your face oils to bangs. a good dusting of transluscent powder to your brow twice a day can help absorb this before it gets in your hair.

If your game, I'd like to help you with a personal assesment of your own hairstyle Mary! Please email me at svenhair@hotmail.com for my styling questionaire. If you include a recent headshot and face pic, I can give you some personal one-on- one and design tips that you can take to discuss with your hairdresser!

Health and Happiness,

--Rich
