WHEN ANTHONY SMITH SPEAKS

Anthony Smith says, My mother, a delicate flower, was planted and then hand picked by God to be in Heavens bouquet. For this assistant pastor and Georgia State University police officer, the death of his mother was heartrending, but it was a loss that propelled him to pen his first book. Heavens Bouquet is a first hand account of one mans dealing with tragedy and triumph and heartbreak and healing.

BM: What inspired your desire to become a writer?
AS: I was inspired by God through the passing of my mother and oldest brother.

BM: With Heavens Bouquet being a book that is based on the death of a loved one, was it difficult to write?
AS: Yes it was a difficult book to write because I had to re-live everything that transpired. To be truthful about it, I rebelled before finally giving in to the call to write it, because it was tough going through losing my mother. I didnt want to live anymore. To me, my life was over. I remember how I would think about my mother and I would dial her old phone number, thinking and wishing she would pick up and answer.

BM: What kind of lessons do you hope that this book conveys to its readers?
AS: The lesson to be learned from this book is that we all, at some point in our lives, will have to deal with death. We must understand that death is a part of living. When death comes, we must truly trust God in His infinite wisdom concerning life and death.

BM: It is said that writing is therapeutic. Did writing Heavens Bouquet help you better deal with the death of your mother?
AS: Yes. Writing Heaven's Bouquet gave me the spiritual perspective I needed to move into the area of coping with my mother passing away. God's answer to my question of, Why my Mother? came in the time of my writing. Tears continued to fall on my manuscript, but my heart and soul would not allow me to stop writing and I thank God for that.

BM: Do you plan to write other books in the future? If so, tell us whats next for you.
AS: Yes; I have already started writing my next book. I also have a vision concerning a childrens book and a stage play. You will hear more on these projects as they develop.
