Subject: Don't be so hard on Mooch!
In reply to: Not a Meaningless game 's message, "Let's get Jamie Martin and get rid of Rattay!" on 21:26:07 12/30/02 Mon

I've been capaigning to get rid of Mooch, but I just read the article by Gary Peterson and he brought up a good point that changed my mind somewhat. Does Mooch make the niners play this whole slow it down, move the chains, run down the clock offence because he's a bad coach and knows very little about how to utilise the niners three big offensive weapons, or does he do it because he knows that the defence can't help to defend a lead? In my opinion it could be the later! Unfortuantly, our defence isn't the strongest in the league, it is young and has a lot of potential (eg. Carter, Peterson, Plummer, Winborn etc. etc.) but potential means nothing. Looking at it now, I may have to say that Mooch is holding the ball to hide our massive weakness, that was the third time this season that the niners let at least a 10 point third quarter lead go, and the defence is out there to stop teams from scoring. Give Mooch a go, sack Mora, with so much talent the defence should be better! Mooch can't stop Hearst from fumbling, Mooch can't help Plummer in coverage.

Also, bye bye Tim Rattay, hello Cade McNown! I still think McNown has a hell of a future in the NFL, hopefully at the 49ers while gathering a few rings!
