Subject: Mounts and gets ponied through the gate

As the pony rider lets them go, Alicia keeps Gulfstream Waves, a dazzling black colt, to the outside at a steady working trot. The young colt prances around in high spirit, pulling at the bit eager to get off. After lapping the track at a a steady trot, she lets him out to a canter. After a furlong, then a slow gallop. After lapping the track again at a slow, steady gallop, Alicia stands in her stirrups and cues him to walk. Dismounting, she gives him to a hot walker, and takes an already-tacked-up-by-her-groom Wanderer.

Getting a leg up, the young woman expertly guides the dark bay filly onto the track. After warming up, she takes the young mare to a slow gallop, then at the quart mile pole lets her out to a full gallop. Breezing her for a mile, Alicia slows a lathered fill to a walk and dismounts, cooling her off.
