Subject: Eagles soar, close the door on Bulldogs

Saturday night at Fawcett stadium, the Canton McKinley Bulldogs found out the hard way that they have a lot of learning to do. The GlenOak Eagles took advantage of 6 McKinley offensive miscues and turned it into a 28-14 triumph in front of 15,000 fans. The Eagles seized a 14-0 lead in the second quarter before QB Matt Mitchell threw a 15 yard touchdown to RB Ryan Brinson to make it 14-7 before half. However, a McKinley blocked punt recovered in the end zone put the Eagles up 21-7 and then GlenOak QB Justin Seeton threw a 36 yard touchdown over the middle to Tyler Maag that put the Ealges up 28-7, thus sending the McKinley faithful to their cars in the third quarter. Mitchell threw a touchdown to Bijay Penn to make the final score 28-14 GlenOak. Here is how the Bulldogs fared overall in five categories: Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Coaching, and Player Involvement:
1. Offense. The Bulldogs ran the ball extremely well, but there is NO excuse to fumble the football six times, especially when you are driving in the red zone. Score: 4/10.
2. Defense: The defense gave up 21 points, uncharateristic of a McKinley defense. I expected better in this area of the game. Score: 4/10.
3. Special Teams: Whoever heard of two McKinley blocked punts in one game? No excuses here, including when one goes for a touchdown. Score: 2/10.
4. Coaching: John Miller loses to GlenOak for the second time in three years. There is one question though: Why the heck is Rose beating McKinley at GlenOak when he could not do it at Massillon? Is this a testament of something? Score: 3/10.
5. Player Involvement: The players were nervous in the early going but were ok. Their frustrations were pretty evident as some even stood off to the side when the Bulldogs trailed late. But they should still remain together. Score: 7/10.
Totals: 20/50. Regional Quarterfinalist. The Bulldogs will have to shape up by next Saturday because the Perry Panthers are coming to Fawcett, and the Bulldogs better be ready for a backyard fight. GO BULLDOGS, CANTON MCKINLEY NEVER GIVES UP!!!!!!

P.S. The freshman Dawgs lost to GlenOak 13-0 Thursday at Don Scott Field. The JV's play Tuesday at Don Scott. Go Bulldogs!!!!!
