I'm pleasantly surprised to see this, as a Jackson alum. Massillon would never, ever, ever, ever play a game at Jackson. Hats off to McKinley for having the guts (and confidence) to go on the road and play a pretty darned good football team.

>But the biggest concern to fans
>of McKinley is that of playing St. Ignatius in week 1.
>Fans fear that the Bulldogs will not be ready to
>challenge the Wildcats in the opening week

As I mentioned, I'm not a die-hard McKinley booster, but I think this is a great move. You win the game and you're in the playoffs, assuming the Pups don't collapse down the stretch. You lose the game and it's still a boost to your computer rating and a heck of a way to scout a potential playoff opponent. It's a win-win.

>Also, I have been hearing claims that if the Bulldogs win
>the Federal League, they do not want Federal League
>banners or championship apparel in their name

With all due respect, and I have a heck of a lot of respect for everything McKinley's ever accomplished, if this is true, it's one of the more arrogant things I've read in a long time. Trust me, winning the Federal League is a hell of an accomplishment. Year in and year out, half the conference makes the state football playoffs. It's the best conference in the state. Period. And with the addition of Boardman and McKinley, it'll be that much better. A Federal League championship is something to be proud of.

Anyway, don't flame me too much, guys, I root for McKinley ten weekends a year. (Nine once they join the Federal League.)
