In a surprising twist of events, the North Canton Hoover Vikings were picked to win the district championship over Massillon (2), Canton McKinley, defending district champion (3) and Austintown-Fitch (4). Strangely to add insult, the Vikings and Tigers refused byes BUT Massillon has an intangible in their favor, home court advantage throughout the tournament, and they have lost only one home game this season (87-59 to Zanesville). McKinley elected to have a bye and will play the survivor of the New Philadelphia-Youngstown Boardman game. Last time the Bullddogs and Spartans met, the Spartans upset the Bulldogs 52-49 in the second round (2001)in a fight-marred contest (thankfully, no one was thrown out) and the previous season the Bulldogs edged the Spartans 53-52 (2000). If the seeds win out, the matchups are Massillon-Fitch, McKinley-Hoover. Now those games will likely determine this year's sectional-district champions. GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT 6 IN 8 YEARS!!!!!
