AVANIR Pharmaceuticals Added to Russell 2000 and 3000 Indexes

SAN DIEGO, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- AVANIR Pharmaceuticals (Amex: AVN - news) today announced that it has been
added to the list of companies making up Frank Russell Company's Russell 2000� and Russell 3000� Indexes.

``AVANIR's inclusion in the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 Indexes represents a significant achievement by the company and,
more importantly, an acknowledgement of the value we have been able to create at AVANIR and our future prospects,'' stated

Indexes.''

Frank Russell Company compiles and maintains 21 U.S. equity indexes that are market cap-weighted and include only common
stocks domiciled in the United States and its territories. The Russell Indexes are widely used as performance benchmarks for
