Er? Actually, no. Most people I know don't read/write slash because they want something to get off on. It's just a love story that happens to include people of the same sex. I read slash because I like romance fics, and if the romance happens to involve two girls or two boys, so be it. Are you saying that purely fluffy slashfics are worse somehow than fluffy hetfics? How can you say that slash objectifies gays without implying that het objectifies straights?

Yeah, I know some people read it to get off. But I read it because I like love stories. To say that a love story involving two males or two females is objectification is like saying that gay relationships are, mechanics aside, somehow DIFFERENT. Love is love--why should it be treated differently just because it's same-sex? Most people don't get off when reading hetfics, and slash isn't any different.

Then how do you account for the fact that I know at least ten writers of slash, in many different fandoms, who are gay or lesbians? Are they homophobic? Gee, must be a terrifying experience for them - screaming every time they look in a mirror. "Oh my God, I just saw a homosexual!"

Really. Please grow up!
