Subject: It's Easier

It's easier to take circumstances for granted
it's harder to cultivate relationships
It's harder to show up everyday with a pair of kid gloves
with a smile and a reassuring tone
opportunity knocked the other day and I wasn't home
I was probably buried under the covers, counting regrets
reminiscing about the things that make me upset
I could've turned guns into roses like two times today
busy making trivia a number one priority
busy doing nothing, busy watching the World go by
hoping that I prayed for more.

the branch on the family tree that took the easy way out
It's easier to die here in the city of God
it's easier to let A-type personalities run the World
be the closed mouth that doesn't get fed
found dead in the capitalist underground
consumed by addictions to money, sex and drugs
busy making death a number one priority
busy watching the world go by
hoping that you prayed for more.
