Subject: The Champion.

Quote:
Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.

You could tell him there's a country for old men.....
but he wouldn't believe it, won't be deceived quick
On his porch every evening reading the Newspaper
A grandfather, his kids are old now and leaving
Leaving the nest to spin their own life tales
With knowledge of the Son and how he was impaled
He did a good job as a single-parent father
Even if at times it seemed like he didn't wanna be bothered
Came up in the Old South...father was a Dixiecrat
Back then old-timers said they know how to fix these blacks
Grew up in times of segregation and racial divides
Didn't teach his kids hate though told 'em..."Just live your lives".
Had family members that did hate crimes, knew they were wrong
Just wanted his kids to grow to be strong, family name to go on
I think any man could identify with his struggle
Wife fed up with his liberal ways, left without sayin', "I love you".
For years he was troubled but he let it go
Before the anger could sink-in or double
Adamantly refused to live his life in a bubble
Would his father be proud if he could see him now
Considering his son's the grandfather of a bi-racial child
She's his world everything she does and says is magic
Tells her, "I'd give you that star in the sky if I could grasp it".
His grandkids watch BET and listen to rap
He grew up on Elvis hits, never listened to that
He's more than some mixed kid's grandpa that likes old music
He's also a champion in life, I thought you might salute him
