Lately my friend Emily Penney had been in a zone and her poetry has a huge influence on what I've been writing recently. I wrote an ode to her, I hope it wasn't taken the wrong way. I feel she has a lot of angst towards a certain type of artist or critic.
I think that she has a very unique way of looking at the World and at life. Close-minded people don't really understand some of her perspectives. I feel that she's on of the few people I can discuss my beliefs with without getting into a huge argument.

She's heavily influenced by e.e. cummings' writing style.
She has a unique way of structuring her poems. She calls her style 'word-art'.
Lately, I feel that the stuff she's been posting is really unique, love poems. She writes about love, attraction and courtship in a way I really haven't seen before. It seems very vulnerable and affectionate and simultaneously insensitive and detached. I feel that there's a certain cynicism in her work that I used to really be able to relate to that I don't identify with as strongly as I used to.

Sometimes I feel that she gets into a mode of maybe offending the reader in some sublime reader. Or not so much offending the reader but of drawing a line and saying, "This is where I'm at as far as my artistic vision....where do you fit in with that?". Maybe I'm over-analyzing or just given it meanings and interpretations it doesn't imply.
I welcome you to read her material yourself and form your own opinion. It's just that sometimes I read her new stuff and before I read the first line the title makes me think, "Who's she got a bone to pick with today?".

Overall, I think she's been really improving and I'm really fascinated and enthralled by her musings on love. I think her strongest asset as a writer is her originality and spontaneity. She's one of the most original writers I've read.
I've sent her two pieces that I wanted her to choose between for a collab. One's called "Theory of Mind", and the other is called, "Every Thought". I think she liked both of them and is going to add a verse to both of them.
Can't wait to see what she comes up with when she finishes her verses.
