Star Fire Spirits plays, at times, a bit different than the Atari Star Wars original, which is especially noted during the first stage, which, instead of being directed to the next T. I. E. Fighter, here you have to search around until you find them, which plays more like the Vectrex version of Star Trek than Star Wars.

After you hit a certain number of ships, then it's down to Dark Planet's (the Death Star's name in this one) surface, which, again, plays a bit differently than the original, as towers are in specific places in the original, which you get a big bonus when you clear them out...here they just randomly appear. It's tough to hit their incoming shots as well, and a glitch will knock your target site to the opposite edge of the screen at times, which can take a hit on one of your shields.

Last is the planet's trench, which plays the most like the original, as you shoot bunkers and then bomb the central core...do so and you start over again, but at a harder level.

This game is a lot tougher than the original, as I could blow up the Death Star a good four or five times, here I've only been able to blow it up three times only ONCE in a month of playing. It's still fun and challenging, though, but it'll make you want the original. 7 out of 10
