I thought I'd play this game maybe twice, and that would be it; Space Invaders is boring nowadays.

Well, nice to be wrong occasionally :)

There's nowhere close to the arcade's original of 55 onscreen at once--I think there's only 25--so already they're moving fairly fast. They also drop a lot of fast bombs, it's not just the invader on the bottom that drops them, plus they go off to the side a little...very nasty! This is the only Invaders game I've ever played where I actually WANT my annoying shields to still be onscreen! Also by the fourth screen the invaders have skipped dropping down one level at a time and are already on top of your laser base! (I thought that was kind of wrong, but oh well...)

I've heard complaints of the Atari 5200 version of Invaders has the saucer come out too often...well, here it's actually a plus, since you don't get your extra base until 3,000 points, plus there will be times where those s. o. b. invaders provide so much (*#! cover fire that you won't get a shot off at the saucer anyway!

Amazing how only a couple of minor things (i. e. the speed) can update a classic and make it a heckuva lot of fun once more. 9/10
