Subject: Shark fishing (beginner)

My son has been fishing off the Huntington Beach pier in Huntington Beach CA. for quite a while. Now he wants to fish for sharks!! We have seen others catch 5 foot shovelnose and threashers there. My question is what kind of reel, pole, tackle do we have to buy for him :=( . Please email me if you can. I just want generals and maybe a price range for each. Any other kind of helpful info will be deeply appreiciated.
Thanx,
Garry
