Author: Dogstar and Leash
Subject: If that don't working, try kicking or a jug of cold water. Note: this will be short.

"Hah, that's what you say," sneers Dogstar, seated in the deepest shadows he can find: a murky corner that seems to be collecting stale cigarette smoke, sweat, and beer was well as darkness. The smell of it stings his sensitive nose and the lights are far too bright, and something at the back of his mind is rebuking him twenty-four hours a day for ever getting mixed up in this business . . . but it's too late. He knows it's too late, and so, because he does have a certain stubborn dark honour of his own, he's sticking with the pacts he's made and the traps he's woven for himself.

"My partner was stupid enough to get tangled up in this, too, you know," he tells the lady with the odd hair. His voice is deep and rough; the gravelly remnant of what was once a deep, pleasant tenor, after twenty years of abuse. "I don't care if she wants to go down with her new passion, just as long as Neuracomp ends up deader than a harp after the swilers have been. You could try talking your brother around," he pauses to rap a bony finger on the edge of his glass, producing a faint dong sound, "but if he's going to stay entangled in this net, you might as well let him stay there."

Leash's old laser music station is silent, her books are tucked neatly away, and the scrape of her stylus over her drawing tablet is no longer to be heard. She's too busy sitting on the edge of her bed, pale, wan and silent, thinking everything and nothing at all.

How could they do this? Couldn't they see the wonder - the beauty - that comes with acceptance of Neuracomp? Are they jealous, or ignorant, or crazed, or all three together? The mere idea of what they're doing to such a source of grace as the Church makes her heart freeze with disbelief.

Dogstar has been gone from the apartment most days for the last few weeks. Somewhere at the back of her mind, she knows just what he was gone for, but, despite her usual stubborn way of forcing herself to see the truth in every situation, she refuses to acknowledge it. Maybe Dogstar has gone astray, but there's no reason why he should be out there helping the terrorists murder everything that Neuracomp has started.

Every night she dreams that it's all right; Dogstar comes to her, admitting how wrong he was, asking her to take him to the great Church, so that he can find the joy that is Neuracomp, too; and she takes him in a warm embrace and opens the doors of the Church . . .

And then she wakes up.

If there are any players left with characters who're pro-Neuracomp (Kaie and Amber, I think?), how's about a defensive meeting among the Neuracompers as well as an offensive one among the rebels?
