I know. When George died I really broke down. I'm still a mess. That was horrible. Did you read the articles on him in Rolling Stone? I did. They're really good.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Across The Universe! It's like, one of my favorites! I've loved the Beatles ever since I was 5 or 6, when my family's carpenter Tony lent us the Yellow Submerine (is that spelled right?) video.
I have The White Album, Yellow Submerine, Imagine (by Johmn), Rubber Soul, Antholigy 1 & 2, Stg. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Hard Day's Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour,Abby Road, and so many others! I think my dad had collected them all--he's majorly into music.
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want you to get into the Band. I mean, they are so great! Please, for my sake, just get their album, The Band. Please?
Here's an introduction to their members:
Garth Hudson: Big brown beard, brown hair, broad forehead. A tall guy, but not skinny or anything. He's a MAJORLY INCREDIBLE muscian--he can play saxaphone, piano, organ, and so many other things I don't even know what they are! He's quiet and the oldest of the five, and speaks slower than the rest.
Rick Danko: This guy is super cute! I mean, he's dazzling! Brown hair and eyes, little beard, mustache. He plays bass and fiddle.
Richard Manuel: Brown hair, low eyebrows and dark, scared eyes. He could see into the future a bit. I'm not joking! He was really hurt. I mean, inside, he was a REALLY sad guy. He plays drums, piano, saxaphone, and clavinette.
Levon Helm: Levon (LEE-von) is from Arkensas (is that how you spell it?) so he says 'thing' 'thang', 'string' 'strang', 'sing' 'sang', and so on! He plays drums and mandolin. Blond hair and blue eyes.
Robbie Robertson: This guy can play guitar incredibly. I mean, he's a freak! He can also play piano. He doesn't sing as good as Levon, Rick and Richard, but he makes up for it by writing incredible songs and playing with amazing skill.
On your CD (WHEN YOU GET IT!) it'll probably say that 'J. R. Robertson' (Robbie) wrote all the songs. True, he wrote quite a few of them, but by no means ALL of them. So, don't beleive that.
Please, please PLEASE get that CD! I know you'll love the Band. At least, i hope so.
