 i think lily potter (maiden name evans) could have been a death eater think about it, J.k said there would be a big reverlation about her. Well if she was a death eater that would explain why Voldermort told her that she did not have to die. But prehaps she terned from the Dark side and married james instead of snape who has been said to be in love with her.
We also don't know which house lily was in could it have been slytherin?
Also i think voldermort tried to kill harry and killed his father james is because they could be grifindors heirs!
