Clouds tinted with blood scuttled shyly across the cobalt sky, ushering in weary travelers. Strength was ebbing quickly, yet both walked with a determined spring in their step and light in their eyes. Night breezes stirred about their silky manes, teasing strands into fluttering banners. As the shadows deepened, the stallion's coat glimmered ghostly-white and the mare's a pale gold. Nails trod down to a swift brook, laughing gaily on it's twisting way into the valley. Sitting back on haunches to complete the bank, they splashed playfully into the clear depth. Fresh water cleansed their muddy coats as they drank greedily. Then, muzzles dripping, they turned to survey their surroundings. Perhaps here, both father and daughter could begin again with a clean slate. Perhaps, things would work out this time.
