Standing stock-still, the howling winds wrapped gentle whispers about the gnarled, ancient bark of their protective pines. Minutes dragged by and it seemed as if an invisible clock jeered in his face, the hands nearly standing still. Slowly, his hooves making no impression in the dry pine needles, the young stallion walked to the outer rim of their standing. He was faced with a flurry of blinding white. Smiling ever so softly, he stepped out into the bleak storm. Hours passed before his return when he stepped back under the protective boughs, raven hide dripping. Wet tresses of his mane and tail were plastered like unorganized decorations all about him and a wild light was in his deep chasms. A gentle hum started deep within his chest, the soft echo of a song taking place. Haunting melodies drifted up to the naked branches as his deep baritone voice slowed to a soft whisper before altogether dying out\\..
