The slap across the face had shocked John, but not so much as being yelled at, and the things Nail had said. For a moment he just sat there dumbfounded, then without even realizing it began running after her. Passing through the living room he heard George yell, "What the bloody hell did you do, John?!?" John stopped running for a moment, then turned on George. George suddenly remembered the consquences of questioning John when he was angry and humiliated, and shrank back from John, who was yelling back, "I told her what she didn't want to hear! I told her the truth!" Luckily for George, that's all that happened before John ran out the door after Nail, yelling, "Nail! Nail! Wait! I didn't know, luv! I didn't know!"
