Could not get it to work for me,[recived runtime error '13' type mismatch...i guess in having typr O blood it is hard to match ;) ] darn it, was the closest to
an idea i had in 1999 in my win98[using winXP now].
The idea was nicknamed desktOb or deskt0b[using a zero] as
i figured desktAb might already be copyrighted[play on
desktop]
So being NIGHTLIFE was created some time ago chances are
you or others have sent you this idea but being i belive in
sharing ideas even if they read as nutty so here goes:
Create the BMP so it covers the entire screen in my case
1280X1024 [maybe a bit smaller incase one needs to click on
desktop in an emergency i.e, NIGHTLIFE screen freezes.]
The entire BMP is FUSCHIA[ or whatever that 255,0,255
colour is..."groovy 70s pink colour"]
icons placed on the 255, 0, 255 colour means when the
program is in action we only see the icons but tat is easy
thanks to your creation the trick is create a two step
function as in the first step instead of the entire desktob
sliding out have a tab show then if the tab is clicked that
entire desktob shows.
This way one can categorize icons/urls/documents anything
via the tabs and since what one sees first is just the
edge[lip] as lets say the lip is set to 5 [as done in the
attached BMP] or even add a feature to add a MASTER icon
which goes on that lip area.
Then by hovering over the lip ONLY the TAB area shows,
preview that desktob's contents.
Then by clicking on that tab the entire desktob shows
/slides out. So it might not be done but is possible to
create either onto one edge to all four screen edge tabs
that could be identified by the alpha-numeric scheme and
when one needs IE they go to the I tab, need paint program
look under P, later in 360degrees of 3D when you create a
virtual rollodex as one hovers over a tiny red 4 pixel dot
it turn to a blinking yellow 4 pixel dot and above that
yellow blinking 4 pixel dot the alpha-numeric tabs flash by
as if thumbing through a rolledex. One adjust the speed of
the flashing alpha-numeric tabs by several methods either
hover further away lets say "north"/upward on the screen
means you are going forward and slower the further on goes
from the yellow pixels center, go southward/down from the
yellow pixels and one searches in reverse, to the left on
stops the search at the previous OPENED APLHA_NUMERIC TAB
[memory of that last opened can be adjusted] also the more
to the left , let say by every 5 pixels[also adjustable]
one then see the next previous tab and so one. Of course
all this directional movement means the yellow flashing
pixel has to float away from the edge in which the opening
tabs are popping up from. Hovering over then Moving to the
right of the yellow pixel means you see predetermined/
favorite TABs which makes it easy for one to open and save
files, as if your DESKTOB favorites might be set to show
programming folders while my DESKTOB FAVs show porno i mean
artistic nudity, yeah that is what i meant. Anyway have a
few more ideas to this but being creative people like to
create i leave the rest and hard part to you.
Similar to the START MENU except the second click slides
out the entire DESKTOB not a sub-folder.
PS i sent this to MS and a few other software creators as i
pass on ideas as it is not in me to build programs but i
can think of ideas that when first sent to people they
think its impossible then years later others create.
The attached BMP[mio02glow.bmp (111k)] only shows a green
tip over what becomes the invisible fuschia, as the neon
green is to represent the edge of a tab, thus hovering over
neon green show tab then clicking on tab shows entire
DESKTOB.
