Subject: The Manarian wizard raised an eyebrow...
In reply to: Biggs, Dream Guide 's message, "So, the blind man can once again see..." on 17:08:07 07/15/01 Sun

...at his spirit guide's dissertation on the "limits" an astral form had when it came to magicks. He presumed the simplifications on astral metaphysics were for his benefit, and that perhaps he simply could not traverse a psychosynchronus barrier surrounding the realm, save for at the portal within his own mind, the rift Biggs spoke of. Rana chuckled to himself, low and sinisterly--he was beginning to think of this realm in terms of physical reality once more. Obviously whatever laws governed Dah'li did not apply and perhaps could not be adequately put into the words of his universe. For now, he was willing to go along with the Sheesh'a'reaman. Preventing the tragedy he beheld would be the first step in a long journey of atonement for the sins of his past, and one he was eager to begin. He just prayed to the Manarian deities of old that he would be up to the task of clearing himself of evil before reading the scroll's words aloud. He wondered if the scroll would exist in his mind as a memory, or if it would return with him when he at last awoke. He also considered one other alternative, a being he had glimpsed once before before attaining prescience on Arrakis. His mind now razor-sharp, he now knew the connection, and realized the possibility that a wildcard might yet turn over in his favor.

Yet as Rana's keen mind focused, prepared, and philosophised, one comment struck him as odd, and so he posed his guide yet another question:

"I understand what I have to do, but please, I'm still trying to understand the laws of your realm.

My body is asleep; little if any time has passed for it in my universe. Yet you say we must "camp" here? For the "night"?

Once before I experienced a dream within a dream here, or rather this reality reshaping into a vsion conjured from my memories of both my past...and possible futures. Is it not dangerous to relax my mind, especially now that you have opened my eyes to so much? You speak of the "morning", and yet I have seen day and night exist simultaneously as we drifted on your floating island. Time does not seem to flow the same here, if it even exists as what it is.

Can we not then return, and prevent the malignment in my future? I see no value in remaining here now, with this purpose you have presented me.

Or is there another reason to remain? Do you have something further to show me?"

Rana's hawk-like eyes narrowed, scrutinizing the featureless ebon void of his travelling companion. Nothing could be read from a being with no face with which to express, and so he could only marshall his patience, and prepare for the unpredictable...

"How much longer must I suffer for my sins...
...before I may be spared the witnessing of these horrors?
