Hey guys!!! Aida asked if anyone wanted to write a review for the convention last weekend, and considering I had such a terrible time (those of you who saw me there KNOW I'm being sarcastic) I jumped at the chance.
First let me say OH MY GOD!!!! Is there anyone sweeter than Claire?!?! or Alex?!?!? or Tsianina?!?!?! OH my GOD!!!
The weekend started out with a line up about a mile long to get regestered, but it was a GREAT chance to meet people and talk (Which I did a lot of, all weekend! I lost my voice by sunday afternoon)
Once you FINALLY got to the front of the line, the fun really started.
There were some great music video's that I really enjoyed. I don't think I'll ever be able to hear "Wind beneath my Wings" or that Faith Hill song again with out seeing Xena and Gabby video's in my head.
At Three o'clock Vicy Pratt came out on stage. She talked for a little while and did a cyane/sarge trivia for some free autographed Mutant X pictures. I must honestly say that I was not too impressed with Vicky. She was good but not great. However, my mother always taught me that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, so that's why the Vicky section is a bit short.
After a short intermission there was a no minimum bid auction. I didn't get a chance to go to this (I was too busy spending all my hard earned money from this summer outside at the vendor tables!!!)
But then the main event!!! CLAIRE!!!! OH MY GOD!!! Supposedly the Alti video was the same one (but it was new to me!!)
Cliare walked out on stage and the first words out of her mouth were "Same F***ING video eh?!?!" (Notice how she said "eh?!" at the end of the sentence?? TRUE CANADIAN!!! We have the remarkable ability to transform any statement of fact into a question!!:)!)
Once Claire got on to stage Aida walked up to the microphone and told Claire just how much she meant to her fans, and we all followed Aida in giving Claire a rose and/or a carnation. No words could describe the look on Claire's face! I thought she was going to cry! Once we all sat down, the show reallt started! OH my! Claire was SOOOOO Funny!! She talked about Directing Claudia Christian's new music video "Taboo" and how for Alex Tydings cameo they kinda got her drunk :)! She answered questions from the audience, talked about her birthday (which was last Monday) and her breakup with her boyfriend (who was, according to Lucy Lawless; no good for her). She had such an amazing attitude!! She was just awesome. There are not enough words in the english dictionary to describe how great she was.
But the best came when it was time to sign autographs and they started running late. They told everone that because Claire had to go and get ready for the review she would no longer be signing personalized autographs. But she sat there and not only personalized your picture if you asked, but she also asked you questions and talked to you for a little bit. Like she took an actual intrest in your life. She immediately picked up my Toronto accent, and talked about the city and how I was doing, and asked my name and if I was going to be at the breakfast. She was just such an incredably nice person. Just amazing!
The XXX Review!!! What can I say about the review?!?! Ummm...I've never laughed so hard in my life!!! It was the BEST show I've seen in a long time! It started out where we were all sitting in the dark in this room and all of a sudden this music started and people started shouting and stuff. I looked down the aisle to see Claire and Alex walking up, sitting on people's lap, taking pictures, just having a great time! I'm sure Claire especially liked it when alex walked up and smacked her on the butt:)!
What a funny show!!! Oh my!! It was hilarious!! They read some great fan-fiction, made out on stage!! and even did an alternate ending to the show, "A Friend in Need, in Deed". My opinion....they should put it out on video!!! I'd buy it!!
The next morning was the breakfast. After only a little bit of trouble with the napkins (?! Don't ask! that was the excuse they gave us for not letting us in at 10am?!?!)We were let into a very nice room for some, well...edible food. Eggs, toast, bacon, sauges, etc. Then the guests of honour walked in to loud cheers! They sat down and had some breakfast while we listened to some speeches from people who have recieved gifts from the foundation. Once everyone was finsihed whiping the tears from their eyes, Alex, Claire, Tsianina and Vicky walked aroung to every table and sat and talked to everyone, took pictures, etc. This was just another chance to show just how amazingly nice these people were. It was also the time when I met Tsianina Joelson for the first time, and now I know this is a Claire Stansfield site and I should really be focusing on her, I have to say how incredably inmpressed I was with her. Tsianina was just amazing. She let me take soooooo many pictures, she talked to me for about 10 minutes, she was just great. She took forever to get through everyone, but she made sure that she talked each and every person there. She singed autograph's, took tons of pictures.
(That was another thing I was really impressed with, was how nice Claire, Alex and Tsianina were about taking pictures. (Vicky wasn't too nice, she wouldn't let me get a picture with her, but...) I mean they were posing for pictures, they waited till cameras were getting ready. They were just so great about the whole thing?
So yeah, I had TON'S of fun at the breakfast, and spent most of the time doing the happy dance!!
Later that day when Tsianina got on stage you could just see how comfotable she felt. Now I heard that at her first convention she was kind of shy, and held back, but this time she was just so at home! Tsianina talked about playing Varia, getting to fight Lucy/Xena and getting the chance the beat up Gabby/Renee. Oh, she was just great!!!
Onec again after a short intermission there was yet another no minimum bid auction. At this auction (which I did go to) they auctioned off Claire and Alex's hats from the night before. The money when to charity and the hats were sold for $1000 a piece!!!
Then it was time for Alex!!! This Goddess of love was truly lovely!!! Again I must say, WHAT A SWEETHEART!!! Alex talked about what it was like to play the dizy Aphrodite, getting drunk for Claudia Christian's video, and their (her and Claudia's) new show Hourglass. Which to my understanding should be permiering sometime next fall?!?! What a sweetheart!!!
Then came the costume contest. In my opinion the best costumes were the little girl dressed up as Aphrodite, and the little guy dressed up as Ares. How CUTE!!!!
The final event of the weekend was Alex and Tsianina signing autographs. Again, WHAT SWEETHEARTS!!! The best was that Alex was posing for my pictures. I got some great pictures!!! OH MY!!! And at the end of the autograph session Alex and Tsianina were posing for some great pictures.
Ooooo, I forgot to mention the auction for the Taboo video. Alex brought a Taboo video to give away so one lucky audience member. Well, it was suggested that she auction it off for the charity, and she thought this was a great idea. Well, for $3100 this wonderful woman Nora got not only the video that Alex was giving away, but also another copy of the X-rated version, both hand signed by Claire and Alex (and possibly Claudia too, I don't remember. I'll have to ask her) When the final bid for $3100 was called, the tears in Alex's eyes were priceless. What an amazing gift Nora gave someone. The chance to get a post secondary enducation!! Truly remarkable!!!
In all this weekend was one of the best in my life!! Not only were the stars amazing (And they seemed so genuine) but the fans were so great as well. You guys were so right when you said I would have the time of my life!!! Thank you so much to everyone for making this weekend so great! I will never for get it!!!:)!!
